With the benefits of distance learning becoming ever more compelling, UWIC investigated their current learning offerings and identified a selection of their current qualification curricula that could benefit from introducing elements of distance learning, whether as support materials, modules, or as a whole curriculum. After an extended evaluation of alternatives, UWIC chose the Luminosity collaborative eLearning authoring system as the solution to their requirements.

The benefits of the Luminosity software are that non-IT- specialist staff can quickly and easily create their own eLearning at a fraction of the cost of using external suppliers and deliver high-quality results. All courses are automatically SCORM compliant and disability enabled, which means they can be mounted on the University's virtual learning environment or any other SCORM-compliant LMS.
