University of Wales Institute Chooses Luminosity

Bristol (UK), September 2010 - The leading Welsh university UWIC has confirmed its purchase of the Luminosity rapid-eLearning-development software platform from CM Group.

With the benefits of distance learning becoming ever more compelling, UWIC investigated their current learning offerings and identified a selection of their current qualification curricula that could benefit from introducing elements of distance learning, whether as support materials, modules, or as a whole curriculum. After an extended evaluation of alternatives, UWIC chose the Luminosity collaborative eLearning authoring system as the solution to their requirements.

Commenting on Luminosity, Dr Colleen Connor, Dean of Learning & Teaching at UWIC says, "We identified that we required a production solution that was easy to use, highly flexible, collaborative, and enabled us to create and update our courses quickly and publish them to the highest production standards. We found that Luminosity enabled our staff to quickly and easily create interactive and engaging learning materials, and through CM Group's expert support, we can ensure we meet both our current and future needs".

Luminosity enables learning developers and subject experts to collaborate remotely with each other to design, create, review, and test eLearning courses in an environment that is fully managed by a central server. The benefits of the Luminosity software are that non-IT- specialist staff can quickly and easily create their own eLearning at a fraction of the cost of using external suppliers and deliver high-quality results. All courses are automatically SCORM compliant and disability enabled, which means they can be mounted on the University's virtual learning environment or any other SCORM-compliant LMS.
