Blended-Learning Course Based on T3eLearning LCMS
In order to achieve this goal, the Research Data Netherlands, an alliance between 3TU.Datacentrum and Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS), have integrated the T3elearning LCMS3 into a separate website. Currently available only in Dutch, the English version will be online in June this year.
T3eLearning is a Typo3 distribution that is marketed and distributed by LEARNTUBE GbR with a set of tools that were created to give learners an interactive, animated learning experience. Research Data Netherlands chose to implement T3elearning because of the following reasons:
- Research Data Netherlands had previous experience with TYPO3, and the solution integrates seamlessly with this platform.
- The plugin package T3elearning provides is comprehensive and provides the tools needed to meet the learning requirements, e.g. quiz extensions, the ability to post comments, and a forum. It also makes it possible to create interactive image maps and mould the content into various attractive formats like accordions, sliders, and tabs. The solution allowed them to manage user rights in such a way that they could selectively choose which parts of the online course to leave open to the public and which part should be protected for the online or blended-learning students.
This is what Marina Noordegraaf from the TU Delft had to say about the project and T3eLearning: "We were very happy with the support we got. Without this support it would have been much more work to implement T3elearning. However, the implementation is still a lot of work and requires expertise and commitment within the organisation that is setting up the course. In the end, no tool can put all of the hours of work into building your design. Having the right tools at hand is a prerequisite for making your design work, of course. We sincerely hope we’ve succeeded and we will let our students - beginning shortly - be the judge!"
