Supporting Tutors of Adaptive eLearning
Saarbrücken (GER), September 2010 - Over the last decade, the use of eLearning has become widespread. However, its further development and deployment faces a number of threats. Van Rosmalen's publication "Facilitating the Design and Support of Adaptive eLearning: Models to Assist the Tutor" discusses two models that address these needs.
The first model focuses on how to support the design task of staff. It explores the use of eLearning standards and agent-based adaptation services to ease the design process. The second model focuses on how to simplify the support task. It discusses the use of natural language processing in combination with a focused, active involvement of peer-students.
The book describes multidisciplinary approaches to using computers in education and should help to give insight into the latest advancements and challenges. The author, Peter van Rosmalen, who holds a PhD in Technology Enhanced Learning, has over 25 years of experience in knowledge management and technology-enhanced learning in industry, finance, and research. He has a position as Associate Professor at CELSTEC, Open Universiteit Nederland, Heerlen and as Senior Consultant at Aurus KTS, Maastricht, The Netherlands.
