New President of the Open University of Israel
Raanana (IL), October 2013 - Professor Jacob (Kobi) Metzer is the new President of the Open University of Israel. Prof. Metzer received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago, in the United States. He is Alexander Brody Emeritus Professor of Economic History, Department of Economics at the Hebrew University, Israel, where he has had much of his academic career. From 2009-2010, he was President of the Israel Economic Association, and was a Member of the Executive Committee of the International Economic History Association from 1998-2006. Between 2005 and 2009, he held the Chairmanship of the Israel Centre for Digital Information Services (MALMAD) Steering Committee.
