Joint Venture with NHS Institute

Ilkley (UK), June 2012 - Virtual College has partnered with the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement to develop a suite of 55 courses enabling healthcare staff to introduce the Productive Ward programme.

The British government aims to introduce the Productive Ward methodology into all of the country's acute, mental health, and community hospital wards, as well as community services teams by 31 March 2014.

Virtual College Divisional Director, Judith Clarkson says, "This joint venture is the culmination of many years' working closely with the NHS in a number of areas ranging from the safe use of insulin to infection prevention and control; we are delighted to be involved in helping healthcare staff deliver efficiencies within the Health Service."

Adopting the Productive Series methodology will enable providers and commissioners to compare the performance of their local healthcare facilities with that of others, learn from the best, and make positive improvements for patients.

The Productive Series of programmes have already been adopted by around eighty percent of trusts, and front-line teams are using the tools and methodology to improve care, increase the time spent with patients, and deliver process efficiencies and financial savings.
