The preferred learning methods of different levels of leaders and managers, from aspiring leaders to chief executives, were recently identified by independent research carried out by highly regarded benchmarking specialists Towards Maturity. Perhaps surprisingly, "the classroom" did not feature in the top three preferred learning delivery methods for all levels of executives, from new managers through to CEOs.

Instead, a multimedia mix of eLearning, video, virtual learning environments, mobile learning, and social media - and in the case of CEOs, even paper - were identified as preferred methods of learning.

James Reed, MD of leadership and management online learning specialists LMMatters, the UK partner to Harvard Business Publishing, will be talking about this unique research and what the results mean for learning agendas at a free seminar at the World of Learning Exhibition. The event takes place at the NEC, Birmingham on 27 September at 4.15pm.

James will be explaining why - in the light of these results - a truly blended, media-rich approach to learning and development is so imperative. "Dispel your assumptions about how leaders and managers like to learn", he said. "Everyone knows that technology-enabled learning makes economic and strategic sense; now this ground-breaking research reveals that it is, more often than not, the preferred way to learn as well."
