Participate-Collaborate-Connect in South Africa
The meeting attracts everyone involved in education, from government, schools, and FET Colleges to higher-learning institutions, as well as the suppliers to this sector. They come together to share best practices, learn from leading educational experts, and participate in sessions and workshops that will enhance and enrich their role as educators in Africa.
Honourable Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga will be sharing her vision on how to develop, maintain, and support an education system for the 21st century. She joins a speaking faculty that includes representation from the Departments of Higher Education and Training, Science and Technology, and Communications.
Education Week 2010 features five separately bookable pre-conference master classes on:
- Coaching and mentoring for curriculum and subject advisors
- Mobile learning to empower educators
- Digital literacy and ICT skills for educators
- Innovative education and leadership practices in FHE
- Building action scorecards for education
The three conference tracks address:
Basic Education - critical issues such as teacher training and support, teaching methodology, school functionality, assessment, and quality control.
Further and Higher Education - perspectives from learning institutions and the business sector on quality assurance, distance education, education funding, and aligning education and training programmes with the needs of the workplace.
Education Technology Indaba - how technology can enhance teaching and learning, create collaborative learning opportunities, and accelerate transformation to ensure that African learning institutions are on par with their global counterparts.
The organizers of the Convention will create a platform for participants to get acquainted with financial, educational, and development institutions from the region and Africa, as well as high-ranking representatives of ministries and intermediary organisations with a strong focus on the integration of ICT. It is a great opportunity to seize all networking opportunities with other participants and discuss and debate topical issues within the education sector.
