Netherlands Railways Makes High-Speed Move to XML
The project is being implemented by The Courseware Company, a leading integrator of learning technologies in the Netherlands and will focus on the real-time delivery of customized mission- critical information to eLearning and mobile performance-support platforms.
With over 27,000 employees and one million passengers daily, the Netherlands Railways (NS) required an XML-based, single-source solution that allowed them to manage, easily reuse, and rapidly customize existing operating manuals and training materials more efficiently. A further task is to deploy these materials through multiple modalities to different divisions, functions, and job roles.
A critical initial focus of the Xyleme LCMS implementation is a Netherlands Railways Electronic Performance Support application that is deployed to thousands of conductors and train drivers working for the organization. The Xyleme solution will publish real-time, point-of-performance information in a web-based format to mobile platforms used by these railway employees.
"The ability of Xyleme LCMS to meet our need of efficiently developing new training materials and seamlessly transitioning to Web-based courses and mobile performance-support applications from a single source of XML content made Xyleme immediately stand out from other LCMS vendors", comments Vincent Boeschoten, Educational Designer at Netherlands Railways (NS). "The combination of Xyleme's leading-edge technology with the deep expertise of The Courseware Company has resulted in quick, pragmatic execution of this critical project."
