MEDEA Awards: Open Call for Participation in 2009
The MEDEA Awards 2009 are now open for the submission of entries. This year there are two new MEDEA Awards. The first is the MEDEA Award for Creativity and Innovation, set up to coincide with the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009 to encourage participation from teachers and learners and intended to highlight creative and innovative use of media in education. The other is the European Collaboration Award, intended to reward a production-project initiative that features or has come about as a result of European cross-border collaboration.
Before submitting a multimedia project or production, MEDEA strongly recommends reading the judging criteria to understand what the judges are specifically looking for and the criteria they will use when judging a submission. Applicants should also read the terms and conditions of submission, where the rules for participation in the MEDEA Awards can be found.
The MEDEA Awards judges recognise the primary role of effective and innovative educational design in the use of moving images with learners. They will primarily be looking for materials and approaches that demonstrate original and successful use of media with students to achieve clearly defined educational outcomes. They are particularly keen on encouraging original and groundbreaking applications of moving images and sound in education. In addition to the main award, the judges may at their discretion present a special award to an approach or production in recognition of exceptional innovation in pedagogic or technical design.
Potential Partners and Sponsors for the MEDEA Awards are still being identified.
