"Miracle on the Hudson Revisited" Inspires Safety Excellence
Virginia Beach, VA (USA), October 2016 - DuPont Sustainable Solutions has launched "Miracle on the Hudson Revisited: The Passengers’ Perspective", a compelling safety-training program that stresses the importance of 4 Cs — competence, commitment, compassion, and communication — in developing and sustaining safety excellence.
The program features Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger speaking on the importance of the 4 Cs, as well as exclusive interviews with some of the passengers of Flight 1549, whose lives were saved after Captain Sullenberger made a skillful yet dangerous emergency landing on the Hudson River in January 2009.
In the program, the passengers, along with Captain Sully, recall those fateful minutes before and after takeoff. Their stories, emotions, challenges and decisions amidst a safety crisis can help your employees
- appreciate the importance of competence - everyday habits and routines that equip employees with skill and confidence to respond to unexpected situations
- develop a sense of compassion - how concern for others enables employees to develop, promote, and adopt safety practices
- strengthen safety commitment - the recognition that everyone's safety depends on each employee's unwavering commitment to the task
- enhance communication - the skill to speak, listen, and understand what needs to be done and said in a crisis moment.
"Miracle on the Hudson Revisited: The Passengers' Perspective" encourages employees to develop and integrate the four Cs into their everyday routines, on and off the job. By taking these principles to heart, employees can enhance safety awareness, strengthen safety habits, and, like Captain Sully, act decisively and save lives in a crisis.
This program is a follow-up to "Miracle on the Hudson: Prepare for Safety" and serves as a companion to "Learn to Lead: Lessons with Captain "Sully" Sullenberger and Lessons from Miracle on the Hudson". It is available on DVD and streaming video.
