Immersion and Immersive Technologies
Paris (F), June 2015 - The Immersive Education Initiative has announced that the United States Department of the Interior (DOI) National Parks Service (NPS) will be featured at IMMERSION 2015 in Paris this September. The international event will feature a series of special talks, presentations, and hands-on workshops to give attendees an in-depth understanding of how the video game Minecraft and fully immersive Virtual Reality (VR) are being used to teach American culture and history. Attendees will also be provided with details on how their own schools can participate directly in the U.S. National Parks Service immersive culture and history program.
Smithsonian, Disney, and Google keynotes, as well as workshops will complement U.S. Department of the Interior National Parks Service sessions at IMMERSION 2015.
Hosted by the prestigious Paris-Sorbonne University ("the Sorbonne"), 07-10 September, IMMERSION 2015 addresses the personal and cultural impact of immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), holograms, neural-brain interfaces, cybernetics, 3D printing, robotics, telepresence, game-based learning and training systems, and fully immersive environments such as caves and domes.
Speakers and exhibitors at previous events have included the United States Department of Education, NASA, United Nations (UN), Smithsonian, Harvard University, MIT, MIT Media Lab, Stanford University, Disney, Google, Microsoft, Intel, Oracle, and many other world-class organizations.
