Could You Be an Edtech Entrepreneur?

Oxford (UK), August 2013 - Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) is giving teachers the chance to develop new educational technology ("edtech") to improve teaching and learning - and potentially make money for their schools at the same time. In partnership with ed-invent.com, OCR is offering teachers the chance to tap into their own valuable skills and knowledge to identify gaps in the edtech market.

Teachers can now sign up for one of the free one-day events taking place in Manchester, Birmingham, and London this autumn. Those with the best ideas for innovative new products or services from these regional events will then be invited to take part in one of two intensive residential “pre-incubator” camps in Cambridge in early 2014. Along the way, teachers will be supported and challenged by experts from the world of technology.

The free one-day regional events will be taking place as follows:

Manchester - 8/9/10 October 2013
Birmingham - 5/6/7 November 2013
London - 3/4/5/6 December 2013

Mark Dawe, OCR’s Chief Executive, was inspired by attending the Startup Weekend Education London event earlier this year. He commented, “Education is about more than just exams. Improving education for teachers and learners is at the heart of what we are trying to do. As a not-for-profit organisation, we want to support teachers to be active, not passive consumers of technology.”
