NetDimensions Learning for DB Schenker Logistics
London (UK), June 2013 - NetDimensions, a global provider of performance, knowledge, and learning-management systems, has announced that DB Schenker Logistics has implemented NetDimensions Learning to establish a central learning platform for more than 62,200 employees in 2,000 locations around the world.
Based on Deutsche Bahn’s Strategy 2020, DB Schenker Logistics aspires to become one of the top employers in the world. "Attracting and retaining highly qualified people is an important part of this strategy," explained Dr. Sylvia Broening, Vice President, HR Projects, Reporting & Processes at DB Schenker Logistics.
"To achieve this objective, a common learning infrastructure is needed to provide high- quality and standardized content at the appropriate time and at a global level so as to give access to training and development program to all of our employees."
DB Schenker Logistics needed a stable, high-performance, and enterprise-grade platform that is flexible and user friendly, as well as the ability to support processes that will enable the company to reduce administrative work including enrollment processes, notifications, tracking, reminders, and automated reporting. "On top of all these, we chose NetDimensions Learning because it is a multilingual platform, which is very important for us," added Dr. Broening.
A centralized platform is key
DB Schenker Logistics plans to eventually provide access to all learning and development offerings on a single platform to support HR. Daniel Heyman, Lead of Knowledge Management & eLearning at DB Schenker Logistics noted, "This centralized platform will enable us to effectively support global projects such as targeted, group-specific training for more efficient use of training budgets. "It will also make it possible to achieve a global harmonization of knowledge and skill levels with respect to basic logistics knowledge and processes worldwide."
Global reach and regional expertise
The full NetDimensions Learning project including consultancy, implementation, support, and hosting for DB Schenker has been carried out by The Courseware Company, a certified NetDimensions reseller based in the Netherlands. The Courseware Company specializes in implementing learning and knowledge technology including solutions for eLearning authoring, knowledge management, and talent management.
Coen Flach, CEO of The Courseware Company comments, "The local Dutch DB Schenker branch has been one of our clients since 2005. During the selection process for the global platform, they recommended NetDimensions Learning and The Courseware Company because they were impressed that all the required functions worked as advertised, and they are highly satisfied with the quality of the product and support."
John Downie, NetDimensions' Channel & Alliance Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa said, "The Courseware Company is NetDimensions' top reseller in Europe, and we have worked with them for close to ten years. DB Schenker Logistics joins a distinguished group of over 100 companies that we serve together across the Benelux."
Heyman said, "With the support of The Courseware Company, we were able to migrate all relevant courses and the learning history of approximately 45,000 employees worldwide from our former platform to NetDimensions Learning in only four months. A fast deployment of training offerings improves the business performance and strengthens the competitive position of DB Schenker Logistics."
In the long term, DB Schenker Logistics plans to enable effective knowledge sharing via full integration of learning and collaboration into HR concepts and process, as well as its daily business.
"NetDimensions believes in establishing long-term partnerships with clients," stated Downie. "Together with The Courseware Company, we are here to support both DB Schenker Logistics's short-term and long-term goals and assist them to become one of the top employers in the world."
