Designing Learning in the Digital Age

Adelaide (AU), June 2012 - A new event for educator professional development is to be launched in Adelaide on 25 October 2012. "Designing Learning in the Digital Age" is based on the ten global meta-trends identified in the New Media Consortium's 2012 Retreat Communiqué.

Modeling a "flipped classroom" approach, participants will be actively curating their own learning and will take away something more tangible than just "new knowledge". The goal is to enable participants to facilitate disruptive and transformative learning experiences in their own organisations.

In an expanding economy, four out of the five top-performing education systems exist in the Asian region. To compete successfully Australia needs to acknowledge global trends and adapt accordingly.

Massive investment in digital infrastructure through the National Broadband Network (NBN) is also providing many economic, social, technological, and environmental opportunities for working smarter.

Every Australian needs improved information and communication technology (ICT) skills, and local educators need to know how to design and facilitate learning experiences that better equip students for work and study in a rapidly changing world.
