MEDEA Awards for 2013 Categories Announced
This year entries are welcome in two main categories:
- The MEDEA Award for User-Generated Educational Media 2013, which honours the best entry submitted by teachers, students, learners, parents, professors, an individual, or organisational representatives in primary education, secondary education, higher education, adult education, vocational education, and/or training.
- The MEDEA Award for Professionally Produced Educational Media 2013, which will be awarded to the best professional educational media produced by a professional company or semi-professional production unit.
Three additional special prizes will be awarded:
- The Special Prize for European Collaboration in the creation of Educational Media 2013
- The Special Prize for Promoting EU Citizenship 2013
- The Special MEDEA Jury 2013 Prize
Prizes include two hand-crafted bronze MEDEA statuettes, as well as hardware and software. All finalists are also invited to take part in the awards ceremony taking place during the Media & Learning Conference 2013 on 12-13 December 2013, where the final winners will be announced.
The criteria used by the judges in making their selection of the finalists are pedagogical quality, use of media, aesthetic quality, usability, and technical quality.
The MEDEA Awards are now in their sixth year of operation, and to date almost 800 entries have been received from all over Europe. Entries need to be submitted via the online submission form and sent to arrive at the MEDEA Secretariat via post, e-mail or fax before the closing date: 30 September 2013 (midnight).
