Wanted: Europe's Most Innovative Games
Darmstadt (GER), May 2008 - In the last few years, the games sector has turned into a driving force for the whole IT and learning sector. The Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport, Urban and Regional Development wants to encourage the development of innovative games and therefore offers the European Innovative Games Award (EIGA), which includes prize money of €35,000, in cooperation with the European Commission. In the context of the award, both technology and content are considered.
From niche productions to top sellers: Games developers, games publishers, publishing companies, freelancers, and young, new talent who create, publish, and sell computer and/or video games from any member state of the European Union (EU) are all eligible to take part in this competition.
The aim of the award is to reveal possible applications of the best innovative computer and video games. Another aspiration is to contribute to further international networking and therefore advance the games sector in Europe.
The competition is open until 31 July 2008. The Awards ceremony will be on 6 November 2008 in Darmstadt/Germany.
