Rabat (MA), May 2011 - The African Education Summit takes place just south of Rabat, Morocco on 12-13 July. It is held under the patronage of the Moroccan Ministry for National Education, Higher Education, Staff Training and Scientific Research and is organised by the international company AfricanBrains.

In the last few days, the organisers have confirmed the participation of H.E. Dr. Ahmad Jamal-Eddin Moussa, Egyptian Minister of Education; Hon. Mariama Sarr-Ceesay, Gambian Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research; Hon. Prof. Hellen Sambili, Kenyan Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology; Hon. Prof. Peter Mutharika, Malawi Minister for Education, Science, and Technology; and Hon. Dr Boniface Kawimbe, Zambian Deputy Minister of Education.

The host Minister is H.E. Ahmed Akhchichine, Moroccan Minister for National Education, Higher Education, Staff Training and Scientific Research. The central theme of the African Education Summit is to bring greater investment in education through innovative financing.

Ministerial sessions will include presentation summaries of national commitments to education - in particular investment into ICT and infrastructure. Ministers will be encouraged to speak of those areas where there is a shortfall in funding and hence the opportunity for multilateral and private financing through partnerships with their governments.

The summit has also attracted the support of leading educational and technology companies, who will be showcasing their innovations at the Mohammed VI International Conference Centre just south of Rabat. The organisers have also agreed for Royal Air Maroc to be the official carrier for the summit. The airline will offer all official delegates 70% discount on their full economy fare and 35% discount on business class.
