i-KNOW: Meet Leading Researchers from Europe and the US
i-KNOW has developed into the crystallization point for various disciplines of knowledge computing such as machine learning, semantic technologies, social networks, context-aware computing, etc. Renown researchers from all these knowledge-computing disciplines meet to present and discuss their approaches and explore novel ways of integrating them.
This multitude of approaches, all applied to the management of knowledge, accounts for the highly innovative atmosphere of i-KNOW. With nearly fifty percent of the participants coming from business or industry, i-KNOW offers a unique setting for in-depth discussions between researchers and practitioners. Two special tracks in 2012 target the topics of visual analytics and "Research 2.0".
Keynoter presenters include two speakers from Dutch universities: Lora Aroyo of the Department of Computer Science at the VU University Amsterdam and Erik Duval from the Computer Science Department of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
Lora is Associate Professor of Intelligent Information Systems Web and Media and has gained fame through her work on integrating Web and TV data with the help of semantics. Within her keynote she will give insights into this emerging field and its opportunities.
Erik's is professor in the research unit on human-computer interaction. His current favourite research topics focus on Research 2.0 and learning analytics. In his keynote he will present ideas on how to innovate research practices; he will further be a key participant of the Research 2.0 Special Track.
