Going Global Registration Closes 24 February

London (UK), February 2012 - Going Global is coming up, and more than ninety percent of the tickets have been sold. This international educational conference hosted by the British Council takes place in London 13-15 March, with around 1,000 delegates from across the further and higher-education sectors.

Prof. Homi K. Bhabha, Director of the Mahindra Humanities Centre at Harvard University, will open the conference, raising some major questions and challenges and setting the agenda for debate over the coming days.

In a session on education providers, Ben Wildavsky, Senior Scholar, Research and Policy at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, USA, will take the example of US colleges and universities, including community colleges, to argue that too many are not serving today's students well - and are unprepared for the demands of the future.

Going Global is further working with the International Association of Universities to produce a series of plenary sessions entitled "Rethinking internationalisation - who benefits and who is at risk?" Behind the scenes, high-level working groups will meet to consider the following questions:

  • To what extent is the understanding of internationalisation shared among stakeholders
and between different parts of the world?
  • How are the factors/forces shaping the process different today from those in the past?
  • How do they impact on the ways internationalisation is implemented? How are they likely to change in the years to come?
