Joint Solution Pairs Advanced Biometrics with LMS
The Swissteach/KeyLemon LMS demo supplements legacy username-and-password logins to guard access to sensitive information using twenty points of unique facial data. It also features a one-way verification process that prevents face reconstruction using biometric models. Systems based on this demo will not only better protect sensitive data, but also allow logins and periodic ID re-verification without any interaction from users, helping to ensure a seamless learning experience, as well as lessen administrative overhead due to misspelled names, lost passwords, and other login issues.
Swissteach currently uses hybrid fingerprint-based/legacy access control in the production version of its Global Teach(r) LMS. Following several years of field success using this method, the Biel/Bienne-based eLearning services provider turned to KeyLemon to evaluate an even more reliable and user-friendly way to protect sensitive data, as well as improve user experience.
The resulting demonstration solution using KeyLemon face recognition shows great potential to advance the way users login to and interact with online learning systems, as well as other systems across a wide variety of industries. "Controlling access to the system is a big part of the equation," said Heinz Gerber, CEO of Swissteach. "But we're also pleased by the language-independent nature of the solution. No matter where users live or how their names appear in various languages, logins are seamless, allowing users to concentrate on learning."
Integration with existing systems is easy, too. According to Gilles Florey, CEO of KeyLemon, "Our face-recognition technology is available as an SDK with prebuilt libraries, as well as a cloud-based solution, as illustrated with the demo case. Rather than spending months recoding, we were able to implement sophisticated face recognition in a matter of days."
"We're very proud of this joint solution," added Reto Schilliger, Product Manager of Global Teach(r), "and we're excited to show our current and potential future customers how it's poised to take online learning to the next level, as well as serve as a springboard for a limitless number of applications in other industries."
