HD "Universal" Videoconferencing with Tixeo

Montpellier (F), October 2012 - The videoconferencing market, although mature, is still suffering from interoperability issues, making it a pain for online meetings with people using different solutions and devices. Imagine if making a phone call between an iPhone and an Android was impossible! …Unbelievable? This is exactly the kind of issues users are still facing when dealing with different video conferencing solutions.

"There is a growing demand from customers to make videoconferencing easier, without having to worry about the requirements and devices of their attendees. This is why we have been working over the past months on making WorkSpace3D a system-agnostic platform for videoconferencing," says Renaud Ghia, CEO of Tixeo.

Over the coming weeks, WorkSpace3D users will be able to join a videoconference from any device, anywhere. Indeed, three months ago, Tixeo was already one of the first web and videoconferencing-software companies to add the support of SIP & H.323 endpoints from Polycom, Cisco and Radvision 1.

Tixeo has recently announced the 5.5 version of WorkSpace3D. Targeting mostly Mac and Linux users, it allows users to meet right from their favorite web browser. And mobile users have not been forgotten, as both iOS and Android apps already exist and are being tested by some of Tixeo's customers before the upcoming official launch.

The BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) effect and mobility

Thanks to the massive adoption of both smartphones and tablets by consumers, 53% of employees use their own mobile devices for professional tasks such as emails, phone calls, and text messaging. As most of these devices are now video-enabled, companies don't really need to invest in expansive videoconferencing equipment for each employee.

Renaud Ghia adds, "The expected rise of 4G networks, combined with affordable mobile devices, will lead to a new era of videoconferencing, mobility, and online collaboration." The upcoming Tixeo mobile apps will take advantage of existing WorkSpace3D capabilities, such as HD communication and rich collaboration features (application and document sharing), no matter what devices are used.

By the end of the year, Tixeo will be one of the rare videoconferencing-service providers to offer a software-based solution not only harmonizing with telepresence solutions, but also mobile devices and Mac, Linux and Windows users.
